Dear Friends,
Greetings from Cathedral Parish !
I am very glad to write a few lines as we inaugurate the new Website of Cathedral Parish. Cathedral Parish which is dedicated to Our Lady of the Holy Rosary is one of the oldest parishes in the undivided diocese of Mangalore was established in 1568-69. The present magnificent structure which is 100 years old is built in 1914. Hence 2014 is going to be the Centenary Year of the present building. You can browse the more information in the history section of the website.
The Year of Faith, which we began on 11 November 2012, will come to an end on 24 November 2013.Various programmes and spiritual activities were conducted to strengthen the faith of our brothers and sisters. I am sure all our parishioners have taken keen interest in building a family founded on strong Christian faith. Formation in faith is not a onetime activity, but a life of long process. Therefore the faith building activity must be backed by the reading of the Word of God, reception of the Sacraments, and engaging in charitable activities (James 1: 22-27)
On the occasion of the inauguration of our new website, I wish to welcome all our parishioners spread all over the world to visit our website. This site should help you to have a continuous link with your Parish. This website will give you lot of information about our priests working in the Parish, People, Institutions, Associations and so on. I will be happy, if you give us your feedback to improve the site.
On 6th October we are going to celebrate the feast of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary. It is also known as our Annual Parish Feast. We have received innumerable graces from our Lord, through his Mother Mary. We are grateful to our Mother and we are ever thankful to God our Almighty Father. On this auspcious day we remember you and your family and pray for your intentions.
Next year 2014, is the Centenary Year of our Cathedral Church Building. We will take this opportunity to concentrate more to renew our spiritual life. We are also planning to take a survey of our families to know the religious, social, and economic conditions of our parishioners to plan our future activities.
We thank our Bishop, Priests, the Religious, the Vice President, the Secretary, the Members of the Parish Pastoral Council and all our parishioners, specially our youth and children for your prayers support and cooperation.
May God Bless you.
