On the occasion of the centenary of the Rosario Cathedral, couples day was organized as one of the Jubilee programme.  On Sunday, 24th August during the 8.00 o’clock community Mass specially prayed for the intentions of all the couples of our Parish.  There was special prayer and Blessings offered to couples.  Family Welfare committee conducted Liturgy during the Mass.

After the Mass there was get-together of couples who have not yet completed 25 years of their married life.  The programme began at 9.30am in the Rosario Conference Hall.  Mrs. Monica Pinto, from Bondel Parish was chief guest and main resource person. She is one of the resource person of the Family Life centre and she is the Head mistress of St Lawrence English Medium school of Bondel. Fr Amith Rodrigues, Asst. Parish Priest, Mr. Dolphy D’Souza, Parish Council Vice President, Mrs. Ida Furtado Convener of Jubilee programme were present on the stage.

Programme began with prayer, led by Fr. Amith Rodrigues.  Programme was inaugurated with the lighting the lamp.  Mr. Dolphy D’Souza, Parish Council of Vice President welcomed the chief guest and all. Mrs. Ida Furtado convener of Jubilee programme, introduced the resource person Mrs. Monica Pinto.
Mrs. Monica Pinto in her talk spoke about importance of family life.  She also spoke about couple’s relation to each other and how to relate with children. She said that the family life is God given gift to the parents, but it is challenging one. God has given responsibilities to the parents to bring up the children into love and faith in God. The modern mass media has a lot of influence on the children and parents. Hence there is constant struggle between children and parents in our families. She also said that the parents must understand the children in the given situation and guide them properly. And this could help our parents to reduce the disputes in the family. She also said that prayer in the family is a source of strength in spite of the differences in the opinion and problems. She also advised the parents that mutual love and forgiveness will bring satisfaction among the couples and to grow in maturity in life.

Mrs. Jessy Alvares Secretary of Family Welfare Committee proposed the vote of thanks and Mr. John Lobo compared this programme.
