The annual feast of the Holy Rosary Cathedral was celebrated on Sunday 4th   October, 2015. Most Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore, was the main celebrant. A few priests from the deanery concelebrated at the Mass.

In preparation to the annual feast three days Triduum was conducted on 30th September, 1st and 3rd October. Rev. Fr Francis D’Souza, the Administrator of St Anthony Charitable Institutions, conducted the Triduum. He preached homily based on ‘Laudato si' ( Praise be to you) an encyclical given by Pope Francis.  The liturgy of the Triduum was animated by the ward members.

The celebrations of the annual feast were inaugurated on 30th September by Fr Francis D’Souza by hoisting the Marian Flag in front of the Church. On the same day the miraculous statue of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary was taken and placed near the grotto for the public devotion.

On the eve of the feast on Saturday Rev. Fr Alwyn Serrao offered Mass and preached homily. ‘The word of God is a lamp to my footsteps’ was the theme of the day. After mass candle light procession was conducted by the main celebrant. All the devotees participated in the procession with burning candles. After the procession blessing of the Relic was given. Thereafter honours were distributed to the people.

On the feast day, the Bishop of Mangalore offered mass. Rev. Fr Ronald Serrao preached the homily. Msgr Denis Moras Prahbu, the Vicar General, Rev. Fr Paul Sebastian D’Souza, Fr Rocky Fernandes and Fr Vincent D’Souza, Fr Denis D’Souza, Fr Lawrence D’Souza, Fr Gratian Alvares, Fr Oswald Monteiro, and many other Priests concelebrated at the Mass.

Programme:

On the occasion of the feast day, we had cultural programme at 6 pm in the evening, i.e. a documentary film on St Mariam Baouardy was screened, directed by Mr Vinod Gangolli, in the Church Cultural Hall. Thereafter a Magic Show was performed by Fr Paul Sebastian D Souza, Asst. Parish Priest, Rosario Cathedral. Rev. Fr Ivan Madtha was the chief guest of the function. Mr John D Souza welcomed the gathering and Fr JB Crasta presided over the function. A large crowd witnessed the entire programme.
